Urunga Heads Holiday Park, Urunga NSW – Surrounding Area
admin | December 31, 2011 | 10:12 pm | Camping | No comments

Urunga Heads Holiday Park, taking a walk along the Urunga footbridge is an experience not to be missed. Extending across the calm waters of the lagoon, with gentle breezes blowing across the water, the footbridge allows tourists a rare glimpse of the abundant wildlife living along the foreshore. Sand crabs burrowing into the sand, pelicans and seagulls splashing in the water, soldier crabs scurrying through the mangrove roots and the sound of waves crashing onto the break wall provide a perfect back drop for a stroll along the footbridge at any time of day. All of this and more is within walking distance of all camp sites and cabins.

Jethro Tull-Bungle In The Jungle
admin | December 31, 2011 | 12:55 am | Camping | 7 Comments

Walking through forests of palm tree apartments — scoff at the monkeys who live in their dark tents down by the waterhole — drunk every Friday — eating their nuts — saving their raisins for Sunday. Lions and tigers who wait in the shadows — they’re fast but they’re lazy, and sleep in green meadows. Let’s bungle in the jungle — well, that’s all right by me. I’m a tiger when I want love, but I’m a snake if we disagree. Just say a word and the boys will be right there: with claws at your back to send a chill through the night air. Is it so frightening to have me at your shoulder? Thunder and lightning couldn’t be bolder. I’ll write on your tombstone, “I thank you for dinner.” This game that we animals play is a winner. Let’s bungle in the jungle — well, that’s all right by me. I’m a tiger when I want love, but I’m a snake if we disagree. The rivers are full of crocodile nasties and He who made kittens put snakes in the grass. He’s a lover of life but a player of pawns — yes, the King on His sunset lies waiting for dawn to light up His Jungle as play is resumed. The monkeys seem willing to strike up the tune.

Accommodation For Olympics 2012
admin | December 30, 2011 | 10:11 pm | Camping | No comments

www.motorhomesdirect.co.uk Preparations for the Olympic Games 2012 are happening now in London. It’s time now that spectators start to think about Accommodation for the Olympic Games 2012. Without a doubt camping is going to be very popular alternative to expensive hotels or ‘hard to find’ bed and breakfast accommodation. Campsites are starting to take bookings now for people choosing to stay in motorhomes on established campsites or sites that have been specially commissioned for the Olympic Games. If you decide to opt for motorhome hire for your accommodation you have a distinct advantage over those with more ’static’ accommodation. The motorhome is not tied to a specific area, so if you are have tickets for multiple events at different locations you can book the campsites in advance and just drive to your next venue. The Caravanning and Camping Club have announced that two temporary sites will be available in Gravesham in partnership with Gravesham Borough Council, both are going to be very close to Ebbsfleet International Station, which is just 10 minutes from Stratford in London and the Olympic Stadium. Pitches will be available for a minimum of three nights and will be open to members and non members. Other camp sites nearby to the Olympic venue are reporting increasing interest, in particular ‘The Elms Caravan and Camping’ are advertising the fact that they are only a short walk from Loughton Underground Station which is only 7 stops or 18 minutes to the Olympic

should i get a pair of snow boots or not?
admin | December 30, 2011 | 10:10 pm | Boots | 1 Comment

i’m going into town tomorrow and my friend told me about a new shop that sells snow boots and jackets and hiking stuff. i was wondering about getting a pair of snow boots because when i wear my wellies in the snow i wear like 2 or 3 pairs of socks and my feet still get very cold. so i was thinking that a pair of snow boots might help. but the only problem is i’d be wearing my snow boots from around November- February and i would only be wearing my wellies to take the dog out when it is raining. i’m not sure, should i get a pair of snow boots or not? no silly answers please! please help! thanks! note: i only put this question into this section so people would answer quicker! :)

Cwmcarn footpath in snow.AVI
admin | December 29, 2011 | 10:13 pm | Camping | No comments

The footpath here leads from Cwmcarn Lake or pond down to the camp-sites and the Visitor Centre. The walk from the village up to the lake and back down is about an hour or less, dog’s habits depending and your own tendancy to stop and appreciate the scenery and listen to the birds. This is the view from the bottom of the lake, the path splits here; to the left leads allongside the Nantcarn, to the bikers’ car park – Much more scenic, but really muddy in Winter. Gorgeous old beech trees. The right hand path (here) is more accessible but boring.
